Sinopse: "Anjos com Armas" [Angels with Guns ] a work in 2 volumes, was designed to honor and thank Guy Brett (1942-2021) -a British art critic and curator- whose enthusiasm for Latin American art, especially Brazilian art, was crucial for Brazilian art scene to be known abroad, especially artists Lygia Clark (1920-1988), Mira Schendel (1919-1988), Sergio Camargo (1930-1990) and Hélio Oiticica (1937-1980). The first volume is presented as a memoir -part diary, part scrapbook-, where Yve-Alain Bois scours his almost half-century-old correspondence with Guy Brett to recount his friendship with Brett and mix-media and performance artist David Medalla, evoking the numerous exhibitions that Brett organized in his legendary Signals art gallery in London, as well as the many books and catalogues he wrote, from his publications on kinetic art and Hélio Oiticica in the 1960s to his pioneering forays into contemporary art in the global South from of the 1970s. The second volume, presented by Max Perlingeiro, features texts by Guy Brett and Luciano Figueiredo and reproduces 42 works by Lygia Clark, Mira Schendel, Sergio Camargo and Hélio Oiticica, in color. "Guy Brett it has always been the great reference for a better understanding of artistic production in Brazil from the 1960s onwards, in Europe. His friendship with these artists in the 1960s, and later with Lygia Pape, Cildo Meireles, Antonio Manuel, Tunga, Waltercio Caldas, Regina Vater, Roberto Evangelista, Maria Thereza Alves, Jac Leirner, Ricardo Basbaum and Sonia Lins provided the dissemination of the Brazilian artistic production, internationally, through several articles and books."-- Page 160.
