Sinopse: The book you are about to read was created to expand on some topics published in the first edition, Puglia Misteri & Leggende, Artebaria edizioni - 2014. My adopted region, Apulia, has always given me endless emotions; it is a land rich in history and tradition in which even the arid rocks of the sunburnt fields exude mystery and legend. Unfortunately, however, regional policy does not sufficiently valorise folklore, outside of folk music events such as the famous Notte della Taranta, which has been stripped of the warmth of traditional music and has become a mere commercial spectacle. A scholar of mysteries and legends like me, cannot help but pay homage to this land in the simplest and most natural way there is, namely by trying to keep alive the stories linked to myths and tales that are lost in the mists of time, swept away by the wind that often caresses the entire region, which abruptly tugs at it, almost as if it wanted to scold its inhabitants. The stories you will read below all fall within the sphere of folklore and. as such, must be considered; thus, fascinating tales that, although they retain indissoluble traces of truth, remain relegated to the sphere of the fantastic. Along with the many legends, I will also cite studies I have undertaken in order to verify, using an academic method, how much truth there may be in many of the legends that animate Apulian folklore.
