Sinopse: The collection of Domingos Gobbi (b. Italy, lives and works in Brazil) is a collection that comprises artwork by renown Brazilian modernist artists like Di Cavalcanti, Lasar Segall, Ismael Nery, José Antonio da Silva, Alfredo Volpi, selected pieces of colonial sacred art, folk art, and primitive art exhibited for the first time in the Estaçao Pinacoteca (Pinacoteca station). The exhibition includes 115 art pieces from the holdings of one of the best private collections of Paulista and Brazilian painting, colonial furniture and sacred and profane art, with particular emphasis on the religious images in baked clay, dating from the first centuries of Portuguese colonization in Brazil. The exhibition "Collection Domingos Giobbi - Art, an Affective Relationship" is the result of a partnership between Fundaçao José e Paulina Nemirovsky and the Pinacoteca do Estado de Sao Paulo as part of the state project "Coleçoes Paulistanas" designed in 4 modules. Each year, a specific art collection will be given special attention, highlighting the the importance of private collecting in Sao Paulo and its contribution to the establishment of the history of Brazilian art and culture.
