Old Rio By Camões

Título: Old Rio By Camões

Autor: Eduardo Camoes

Sinopse: Product Description This first book presents a history of Rio de Janeiro resulting from the research conducted by the author as he sought to recapture, in his original paintings, the past (historic) beauty, color and glory of a modern day megalopolis. As the narrative evolves over the 5 centuries since it was established, the author paints the city during the latter part of the 19th century in vivid color and detail. From the Author In 1973, upon my arrival in California I turned my attention toward 2 main goals, (1) learn American English, and (2) familiarize myself with the California School of Painting. Then, a young man of eighteen, I was lucky to have been given the opportunity to live and travel through forty states with an outstanding American family. Seeing such sights as the Grand Canyon, Florida's beautiful beaches, the historic coastal regions of the New England shoreline and Niagara Falls; amazed by the great paintings of the Hudson Valley region and the influence of American impressionists on a society as a whole, I then decided to turn my endeavors to becoming a painter. I began to exhibit professionally at Val Valentine's Gallery and with his influence associated myself with the Hemet Valley Art Association and the Arlington Art Guild of Riverside, participating in a number of group exhibitions. A year later, when planning my return to Brazil, I had no paintings to take home for they had all been sold. I had accomplished my goals and had become a professional painter. The first article concerning my paintings was written in the December 1973 issue of the Hemet News. Since then, my works have been cited favorably over 300 times in the newspapers and magazines of Brazil. Additionally I have published two best selling books my art, "Old Rio" and "Old Recife". Dedicated to art, I am now turning my attention back to my artistic roots - back 25 years - to the historic scenes of the United States. About the Author Highly acclaimed as the leading Brazilian artist of historical landmarks, Eduardo Cames, is now turning his talent to the landscapes of America, where at one time, as a young man, he lived, worked and painted historical scenes of southern California. The call to return to America and paint historical landmarks is a strong one that is destined to elevate Cames' art to a new level. Having been recognized by the American art community, Cames' works now hang proudly throughout the United States. "Old America" is the culmination of years of research into the rich historic American past, filled with the lush scenery that evokes a mixture of pride and passion for the American dream. Along its banks, it supplied indigenous Indians, French- men, Flemish, Portuguese and Brazilians from other provinces. But for general use, it can be said that only in 1700 was a pipeline of sorts actually finished - a small tiled canal in fact. This brought the water from its source high up the Desterro Hill to the foot where it was collected in a large tank. People had then to go there to get water.
