Pindorama and Ancient Human Trails

Título: Pindorama and Ancient Human Trails

Autor: A.L.P. Gouthier

Sinopse: The first book ever to follow Human Trailfrom Pre-historic Africa, all the way to South America. The author questions the theory that the peopling of the American Continent came almost only from the north, through the Bering Straits. Usually forgotten by English writers, the Pre-History of the South American continent, from 15 000 years ago to the 16th century,is here explored. This is the production of a British-Brazilian author, graduated from an American university, written first in English and then translated into Portuguese by the author herself. Usually, books on humanity focus on Human Pre-History first in Africa and sequentiallyits progress through Europe and Asia, believing that the American Continent, and very especially its Southern portion, were the last parts of our planet Earth to be peopled. A.L.P. Gouthier questions such viewpoint and presents another version of the advancement of civilization, coveringin her studies a period of time from approximately 150 000 years ago to the end of the 16th century. And in so doing the author re-writes the history of the land of her forebears, previously focused only on the point of view of colonisation. Pindorama is the result of the authors’ lifetime research on her own diverse ancestry, which she at first believed composed only of Portuguese forbears, already in the tropics since the end of the 16th century, with a dash of English that travelled south in the early 19th century. But to her surprise, she suddenly discovers in the past a Native South American woman of the Krenac people - also known as the Botocudos -, as well as a famous personage of African descent, known as the ‘slave that became queen’. Her title Pindorama is inspired in the name given by natives of the Atlantic Coast of South America to their land, before the arrival of the European colonizers.
