The phenomenological movement: A historical introduction

Título: The phenomenological movement: A historical introduction

Autor: Herbert Spiegelberg

Sinopse: This attempt to answer the persistent question "what is phenomenology?" is based on the conviction that at the present moment an honest and helpful reply presupposes a historical introduction to the major varieties of the Phenomenological Movement, leaving to Edmund Husserl the center of the stage, but assigning majot parts to his percursors, independent associates, astudents and successors. The book tries to satisfy the needs of two groups of readers. Conceived in response to a growing demand of American students of European Continental philosophy for a reliable guide to midcentury phenomenology it is geared primarily to their interests and backgrounds. But as the work on this introduction proceeded, it became apparent that something very similar was still badly needed in the philosophical world at large. While the original mandate of the book took prioritym it is hoped that the final work will serve also some of thr wider needs.
